[IFLA-LPD] Reminder to nominate for the IFLA LPD - deadline Wednesday February 11th!

Dear colleagues,

How would it feel to become part of the Standing Committee (SC) of IFLA section for the Print Disabled (LPD)?

Isn’t it an exciting opportunity to raise your involvement with the international library world to the next level?

Every odd year IFLA holds elections and IFLA members are able to nominate persons for the Standing Committees of their choice.

This year, 2015 is an odd year, so here is your chance! Next opportunity will be 2017.

If you have sent in your nominations papers to IFLA already, then: thank you! You don’t need to read further.

Recently, you have received information on this through IFLA headquarters. Maybe you are still thinking about it, being busy with your other responsibilities or not really sure what to do. Hopefully this mail can give you additional information to make up your mind. Of course much more information can be found on IFLA’s website, including the two nomination forms you need to send in:   http://www.ifla.org/officers-corner/sc-nomination

The Standing Committee (SC) is responsible for developing and promoting the work of the section. As a member of IFLA you may nominate yourself or another person in your organisation to become a member of the SC. If there are more nominees than seats vacant, a ballot will be organised by IFLA. Usually this is not the case. For 2015 our section LPD expects at least 5 vacant seats in the SC. The Officers have a term of office lasting two years, which can be renewed once for a second consecutive term of two years, providing the individual remains on the Standing Committee.

Being a member of the SC brings of course a certain level of commitment and responsibilities. You can check these at: http://www.ifla.org/officers-corner/sc-members

In return you will be in an excellent place to share knowledge, network and initiate projects with library colleagues from all over the world. They are facing the same challenges as you are, but might be thinking of solutions you have not thought of yet.

Please be aware of IFLA’s deadline for nominating: send in the two required nominating documents before or on the 11th of February!

Thanks for considering nominating for the IFLA LPD standing committee for the period of 2015-1217!

Looking forward to work with you in the future,
