Salary: $45,000-$60,000 yearly

 

Position description:

Administer a small 3 county rural cooperative multicounty library system in North Florida near Tallahassee.  Performs administrative and professional library work in planning and directing the daily operations of the Wilderness Coast Public Libraries.  The Administrator provides leadership and guidance to library employees, who provide services to the member libraries of Franklin, Jefferson & Wakulla Counties.  The Administrator meets with the Directors of the member libraries and participates in the development of proposed policies, plans, programs, and projects to be submitted to the 6 member Governing Board.  The Administrator is responsible for preparing and administering Board-approved budgets, writing grants and administering grant funding, hiring and training administrative office personnel, maintaining and improving the quality of technical services, and developing positive public relations with the community.  The Administrator reports to a Governing Board representing the 3 member counties.

 

Education/Qualification:

REQUIRED:  An American Library Association (ALA) accredited master's degree in Library & Information Studies/Sciences.  Also, at least two years of full-time, paid professional experience, after completing the library education program, in a public library open to the public for a minimum of forty hours a week.  Supervisory ability and experience.  Basic knowledge of computers and networks.  Must be able to travel in Franklin, Jefferson & Wakulla Counties in North Florida.  

DESIRED:  Knowledge of library technology, open source software and automation systems, social networking, computer and software skills.  Detailed description available upon request.  

Hiring will probably be near October 2011.  Candidate will work with outgoing administrator for training until December 2011.
