Information International Associates, Inc., (IIa), an award-winning information and knowledge management firm in Oak Ridge, TN, is now accepting applications for Senior Scientific and Technical Information (STI) Manager  . Position is located in: Virginia Candidates must have at least a current Secret Clearance level.


This position is a senior management position with both operations and strategic planning responsibilities.  It requires an orientation toward innovation, with the responsibility to build, maintain, and operate, a state-of-the-art information analysis center including the development of a collection in very dynamic national security-related fields.  Responsibilities include building large digital collections of documentation and multi-media information products; managing people, program, and analysis of the information acquired in response to inquiries or for state of the art reviews; and creating a home for communities of practice. 

 

Duties:

  • Acts as Deputy Director of the Center and manages internal operations.
  • Manages a staff of information professionals and subject matter experts.
  • Oversees the collection and management of a comprehensive collection of the worldwide literature on information assurance, simulations and modeling and software development. Government and commercial information as well as new information formats are to be considered.
  • Acquires agency unclassified STI and non-agency STI from Federal and international organizations pertinent to the national defense interests, including cybersecurity, modeling and simulation, and software practices.
  • Educates, trains, and assists potential users of the STI systems.
  • Oversees the publication, in electronic and print media, of newsletters, state-of-the-art reports, briefings, RSS feeds, etc on a periodic or episodic basis
  • Plans and supports the development of  technical conferences and meetings
  • Has responsibility for maintaining cataloguing, metadata, and data integration standards
  • Establishes a state-of-the-art data harvesting effort using advanced web search technologies
  • Establishes techniques to gather similar information from agency contractors and other sources in academia and industry required to submit such information to agency databases
  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with agency network of similar information centers, with respect to collection development, information dissemination, information management technology advances, and customer outreach
  • Represents the agency in a variety of professional (IA and information management) situations

 

Requirements:

  • Current Secret Clearance
  • Advanced degree in an information related discipline plus minimum of 10 years experience in Information Management
  • Experience managing staff of information technicians and IT support staff,
  • Experience in developing an electronic digital collection and metadata (knowledge of COSATI format a plus)
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies including social media to help build communities of practice
  • Energetic, self starter
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • DoD Background a plus
  • Background in information assurance, simulation and modeling and software development a plus
  • PMP and CISA certification desirable
