The Qatar Foundation is establishing a state-of-the-art Central Library to serve the diverse information needs of the residents of the State of Qatar. The Central Library, to be located in Education City, will take a leadership role in meeting Qatar Foundation’s goals to become Qatar's premier information resource for the academic, research and public community. It will serve the general public, universities, schools, research institutes and Education City partners. The Central Library will offer a suite of services and programs to support education and research through comprehensive print and digital collections.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Head, Library Web Services provides leadership with respect to library web services, including strategic planning, management and development of web-based services and applications.
The position leads the collaborative design and overall development of web-based services across the library.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop strategies and operational objectives of the library web services unit in conjunction with the Associate Director for Library Information Technology
- Lead, manage and supervise the staff of Library Web Services unit
- Develop a framework for integrated web services for all Central Library interfaces and web-based applications
- Lead the Central Library’s overall developments of web-based services
- Contribute to the development of policies, access and technical standards for the Central Library’s digital repositories
- Investigate and identify appropriate technologies, applications and user-centered design strategies
- Support library instruction through development of web based applications

REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in Library and Information Science accredited by the American Library Association or other internationally recognized library qualifications. Candidates with a combination of relevant skills, experience and training that provides the required knowledge may be considered
- An additional Masters in Computer Science or Multimedia Technology will be an advantage
- Proven record of team leadership with strong supervisory skills
- Increasingly responsible experience in developing, managing and/or supporting large-scale websites and portals in UNIX, Windows and MacOS environments.
- Demonstrated evidence of successful management of large-scale web integration projects
- Demonstrated evidence of IT and web programming skills inclusive of web scripting, frameworks and authoring software, such as Apache, Perl, MySQL, PHP, XHTML, HTML, CSS, XML and SAML.
