Copyright Officer, Tenure-Track

 

The Copyright Officer will work under the general direction of the University Librarian. Situated in the Library, the incumbent will provide oversight of the University's copyright compliance efforts, which includes the development of a comprehensive copyright management program for the entire University community.  Accordingly, the position requires extensive consultation and liaison with individuals and units external to the Library, including the University Secretary, and University faculty and staff.

 

The incumbent will be expected to raise the awareness of copyright requirements across campus, respond to inquiries regarding how copyrighted materials may be used, and update and apply the University's copyright policy and fair dealing guidelines. The successful candidate may be assigned responsibilities as a department head for a related library area.

 

Requirements:  An ALA-accredited master's degree in information/library science. A minimum of two years of professional library experience. Strong background and experience in the area of Canadian copyright law. An ability to develop and implement compliance programs, and education programs. Strong management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
