Job Description:

The American University in Cairo Libraries and Learning Technologies (LLT) seeks a dynamic person with proven leadership and management qualities to motivate and maintain the Main Library’s drive to excellence. The AUC Library holds the largest English-language collection in Egypt and serves the AUC and local scholarly community.

 Working closely with and reporting to the Dean for Libraries and Learning Technologies, the Associate Dean for the Main Library will play a key role in implementing the strategic vision for LLT, providing leadership for assessment and change as the Library adapts to the University’s enhanced teaching and research mission. The Associate Dean of the Main Library is responsible for budget and resource planning, policy and program development, operations and personnel, and overall innovation and excellence in the Main Library.  The Associate Dean will foster user-centered services, integrated educational and curricular programs, responsive collections and information resources, assessment, and marketing of services.

Requirements:

 The candidate must have an ALA-accredited MLS, or international equivalent; at least ten years’ successful leadership in progressively responsible administrative positions preferably in academic libraries; experience in resource allocation and budget preparation with a current annual budget of $6,507,377 (capital and operational), a demonstrated success in human resource management, including the ability to engage staff in improvement and change. A second Masters degree, working knowledge of other languages, and experience in a multicultural environment are highly desirable but not mandatory.
