Malcolm Auld Direct (known as MAD) wants a software developer who can also
manage systems administration related to the software. The primary role is
the ongoing development and improvement of our email software delivered as
SAAS and the systems administration of the service. Solid experience with
administering Linux servers as well as building dynamic websites with PERL is
essential.
You?ll need a demonstrable flair for application development - particularly
in relation to changing customer requirements. While the ability to work
independently is important, you'll also be an active contributor to the team.
Experience summary:
- Programming with perl.
- Mod_perl.
- html, xml, css, javascript, jquery.
- Intermediate/Advanced Linux/Unix skills.
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
- Configuration of system services including Apache, PownerDNS, Exim, MySQL,
Subversion and others as required.
- Debian.
- Designing and deploying network systems.
- Understanding of securing Linux systems, best practices and theory.
- Excellent testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and analysis skills and
strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with email marketing is required.
- Tertiary qualifications in computer science or equivalent desirable but not
required.

Terms of Employment: Initial 2 year contract with the possibility of going
permanent within the period of the initial contract
This position is being offered by the APNIC Secretariat

Location: South Brisbane, QLD
Purpose of the Role:
The Infrastructure Services unit is required to provide a high level of
internal and external customer service by maintaining computing and network
infrastructure.
The Systems Administrator assists with the deployment, configuration and
management of APNIC's computing services and infrastructure, including both
internal and external services.
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
Essential:
Degree in Computing Science, Systems Management, Engineering, or Computer
Networking (or equivalent experience)
Knowledge of ISP operations, and Internet address and routing management,
Knowledge of and experience in Internet operations groups, Internet security
and risk management, preferably in an ISP environment
Minimum 3 years systems administration experience/knowledge of the following
areas:-
- Commercial and public domain UNIX/derivative administration
- Commercial desktop operating system administration
- Cisco and other vendor router and switch configuration and management
- Application software installation and deployment
- C/C++, Perl and Shell programming experience
- Code management and revision control systems experience
Sound communication skills
High level of personal and professional integrity
Membership of relevant professional and industry body
Desirable:
Design and installation of geographically dispersed
networks, complex system architectures
Formal presentation experience
Work experience in a multicultural environment
Ability to speak an Asian language
