Manager, RAND Intranet
Based in Santa Monica, CA
This position offers the opportunity to be on the ground floor of an enterprise-wide intranet re-design, including technology, design, staffing and migration plans. The first two years of this position will be focused on development of a new system and migration of content to that system. This includes building a team, working with a vendor partner, consensus-building among stakeholders on design issues, developing a timeline and delivering a world-class intranet system. Following this period, this position will continue to develop and lead the intranet team, and manage intranet operations across the enterprise. Reports to the Director, Knowledge Services.
About Knowledge Services: Knowledge Services has three service units: Client Services (research library functions), Corporate Archives and Intranet/Systems. The Intranet/Systems group is the newest department and will be concerned primarily with the corporate intranet, but also with projects related to internal information flow and management (KM).

Responsibilities:
· Lead the Intranet Team, including hiring, training and evaluating.
· Effectively manage the workload and all assigned work of the intranet team; report concerns and the status of projects to management in a timely manner.
· Guide, manage and develop creative ideas and designs based on input from stakeholders.
· Work with vendor partner to develop intranet site.
· Collaborate with business owners, operational teams and technical staff across the company to identify requirements and ensure project and design requirements are met.
· Manage multiple projects concurrently through the entire software development life cycle from initial conception through launch.
· Define and orchestrate an appropriate support model for a matrixed organization (with varying stakeholder needs and perspectives).
· Advance intranet vision for a knowledge organization focused on research activities.
· Stay current on web design trends through external research, peer benchmarking and team brainstorming.
· Oversee governance and contributor training program for intranet.
· Oversee benchmarking, analytics and metrics program to continually evaluate intranet operations.
Qualifications:
· 6-8 years’ experience with development and management of web projects, including staff supervision
· BS/BA in web/graphics/multimedia design or other relevant area
· Desirable: MA in Library or Information Science
· Ability to manage and complete projects, resolve issues and make recommendations to move projects forward
· Understanding of user interface best practices, web application design, and usability
· Experience in
o web services and client delivery
o collaborating with and supervising technical staff
o collaborating with vendor partners
o developing governance and training programs for end users
· Familiarity with web applications, development best practices for intranets and with internet development platforms, particularly MS SharePoint
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
