Position: Associate Librarian-Reference Services (Information Commons)
Reports to: Director of the Library
Description:
The addition of an Information Commons in the new Public Square requires an energetic, service orientated librarian familiar with emerging technologies and their potential to enhance library services.
The addition of an Information Commons in the new Public Square requires an energetic, service orientated librarian familiar with emerging technologies and their potential to enhance library services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide reference services in the information commons for students and faculty.
- Manage all aspects of the Reference Service Desk in the Information Commons.
- Monitor and respond to questions from students through the Library "Chat" service.
- Recommend and implement new library services for the Information Commons.
- Continually evaluate new services and adopt new policies and procedures in response to the evolving needs of students.
- Manage student requests and assign study rooms in the Public Square.
- Work collaboratively with other Molloy librarians in collection development, including selection, maintenance, and de-selection of materials. Subject areas to be determined based on the strengths and interest of the individual.
- Establish an active working relationship with academic departments/divisions (to be determined) within Molloy College.
- Actively contribute information to the library web page.
- Conduct library instruction classes emphasizing critical thinking skills and the integration of print and electronic resources.
Qualifications:
- MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA accredited library school.
- Two years of academic library experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with co-workers and a diverse group of students.
- Strong commitment to service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Hours:
Monday –Thursday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Position: Part-Time, Per Diem Instructional / Reference Librarian
Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Reference and Instruction Librarian provides instruction, reference and research services to students, faculty, staff and other users of the James E. Tobin Library.
The James E. Tobin library seeks applicants for part-time Reference and Instructional librarians. There are opportunities for librarians to be scheduled for daytime, evening and weekend hours. Candidates should be proficient in research strategies and resources, as well as emerging technologies such as virtual reference, (Chat.) Candidates should have a familiarity with new information technologies as they apply to instruction and communication (LibGuides, Camtasia,) or other instructional software. Successful applicants will have the ability to customize instructional sessions for a variety of disciplines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide reference, instructional, and research services to student, faculty and all other users of the Tobin Library.
- Develop customized classroom instruction sessions upon request.
- Teach research and search strategies to students in small groups and / or one-on-one sessions.
- Prepare online tutorials utilizing LibGuides.
- Other library related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a Master's degree in library/information science from an American Library Association accredited school.
- Two years experience in an academic library and prior experience teaching instructional sessions.
- Strong knowledge of academic databases.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with developing LibGuides.
- Prior experience with medical databases such as CINAHL, Cochrane, Ovid is highly desirable.
- Second master's degree a plus.

Position: Library Assistant Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad)
Reporting to the Periodicals Librarian
The James E. Tobin Library seeks an energetic, detail and service orientated person to work in technical services who is willing to be both flexible and versatile by supporting patrons and librarians in a number of areas within the library.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process all interlibrary loan requests using the ILLiad system for ILL.
- Scan documents for ILL and eReserves.
- Check-in / out ILL materials and lending of books and articles from the Molloy collection to other libraries.
- Update and edit serial book records as required.
- Retrieve any serial or reserve articles requested by students or faculty.
- Prepare books and journals for the bindery.
- Assist librarians in any related projects.
- Perform all related functions at the Circulation Desk as needed.
- Prepare all new books coming into the collection.
- Other library related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree or higher.
- Prior experience in technical services in an academic setting and experience working with OCLC's ILLiad inter library loan system is highly desirable.
- Prior experience with ExLibris Voyager and Sirsi's eReserves is a plus.
- Candidate must be detail orientated with a strong sense of customer service.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Hours:
- Monday –Thursday 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
