Senior Linux Systems Administrator - Linux and Web Applications
Based in the Inner West, this company is developing new mobility technologies
to deliver cutting edge concepts. This is an opportunity to work with an
experienced team in a dynamic and exciting environment. This will be a key
role within a start-up operation supporting the launch and commercialization
activities of a new web based software product. Operating in the mobile
Smartphone apps environment, there is potential to grow your experience and
responsibility as the organization grows.
The application will operate in a mobile internet environment with a large
volume of users and consumer transactions. You will be responsible for
keeping this large-scale web application up and running, eventually
supporting a user base of many millions of users. This includes the start-up
phases supporting the initial pilot and customer trials, and working closely
with the software development and customer facing teams.The nature of the
work is data intensive, using ground-breaking code, with potential to scale
up to large scale high volume operations, along with a roll-out of new
features and capabilities over time.
If you have a Linux background, with database support (PostgreSQL preferred),
as well as experience with Internet based applications and preferably some
exposure to cloud based services, Amazon Web Services (AWS) in particular
then this is the right place to be.
Main Activities/Tasks
Linux System Administration.
Deployment and management of web applications infrastructure(Java, Tomcat
preferred) including security.
Develop and document support processes.
Contribute system requirements that enhance the ability to support the
applications.
Maintain network and application platform performance and availability
through capacity planning, tuning and surveillance.
Application release management: staging, scheduling down time, roll out.
Backup and disaster recovery provisioning.
Developing scripts and other tools to automate system administration
procedures.
DB Support (PostgreSQL preferred, not DBA).
Cloud platform deployment (Amazon Web Services preferred).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Computing degree (or similar) or equivalent relevant experience.

Senior Linux Systems Administrator
MantechIT is helping our client to look for an experienced Linux system
administrator to join a technical service and support team that deals with
system administration, network administration and the management of bespoke
hardware and software.
As the current operations team is being relocated to Singapore in the latter
half of 2012 you must be prepared to relocate overseas for this role. If you
are not in a position to relocate then please do not apply. The successful
candidate will be trained in the company's technology and processes in
Sydney, Australia for 9-12 months before relocating to Singapore.

Education
? University Degree or equivalent tertiary qualifications mandatory.
? Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification (RHCSA or RHCE) preferred, but not
essential if candidate has good experience
