The Library Resource Center at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applications for Associate Director, a twelve month non-tenure-track faculty position. The Associate Director coordinates and supervises the day-to-day operations of the library and will work closely with and under the guidance of the Library Director. The Associate Director must be knowledgeable in current and best practices of library resources, services and technology and possess, or have the ability to develop, strong administrative and marketing skills.

-- Provide leadership and assist the Library Director with personnel, budget, building, and administrative matters;
-- Participate in the planning process for the library, including recommending changes or improvements and developing new types of services and operations;
-- Work with the Director to establish strategic goals and objectives, determine enterprise wide activities and collaborations, and prepare administrative reports;
-- Assume the responsibility of the library in the Director's absence;
-- Maintain professional competency and activities;
-- Mentor library faculty and staff; and
-- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
-- A minimum of five (5) years of academic library experience in positions with progressive levels of responsibility; a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements;
-- Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of library operations including extensive knowledge of contemporary library practices, trends, and emerging technologies;
-- Evidence of project or programmatic leadership and the ability to develop a vision for delivering library services;
-- Strong analytical and decision making skills;
-- Excellent communication skills: oral, written, listening and interpersonal;
-- Successful mentoring skills that empower others to excel and work well as part of a team; and
-- Ability to interact and work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of people including undergraduate students, faculty, and staff.
-- Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of library operations including extensive knowledge of contemporary library practices, trends, and emerging technologies;
-- Evidence of project or programmatic leadership and the ability to develop a vision for delivering library services;
-- Strong analytical and decision making skills;

-- Five or more years of experience in supervising and managing librarians and staff, with evidence of coaching and mentoring.
