McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, IL has an opening for a full-time Cataloging & Collection Development Librarian. This position will start in January 2016.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Perform a variety of types of cataloging and cataloging functions, utilizing the appropriate cataloging tools, resources, and formats with availability daytime, evening and weekends
• Responsible for library collection development and collection maintenance, including but not limited to selection, acquisition, processing, inventory, and withdrawal of library resources
• Monitor curriculum changes, coordinate with faculty, and gather/analyze data to ensure that the library’s collection meets the needs of its stakeholders
• Develop and recommend policies and procedures related to the library’s cataloging and collection development operations
• Review and recommend new vendor services and utilize data to make recommendations regarding the renewal of subscription-based resources/services
• Establish and carry out goals related to the cataloging and collection development functions of the library
• Responsible for the library aspect of new course/program proposals and program reviews
• Provide reference service on an ongoing basis; conduct library instruction; participate in the information literacy program
• Provide back-up coverage at the Circulation Desk
• Provide statistical information and reports required by the Dean
• Participate in job-related professional activities and continuing education
• Serve on college committees and participate in college activities
• Provides direction to the Library Technical Services / Systems Coordinator and the Library Secretary on Technical Services matters
• Participate in College governance through, but not limited to, committee work and advising of students
• Support continuous quality improvement through participation in AQIP
• Work cooperatively, collaboratively and collegially within the department, as well as with faculty and staff throughout the College in striving for educational excellence; ability to interact with students in a positive and professional manner
• Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited library school program
