Web & Systems Management Librarian

Overview

The merged Library & IT department at Ursinus College seeks a creative, energetic, and team-oriented colleague to join the Information Literacy and Instructional Technology group during a period of dramatic change within our Library and within the digital resources and technologies that support the academic work of the campus.

This hybrid position will help guide our current Library systems toward a new generation of capability fueled by dramatic improvements in web technologies and cloud computing; the position will also provide additional outreach functions to academic departments in the Sciences, as our outreach, research, and teaching efforts are evolving.  Reporting to the Director of Information Literacy & Instructional Technology, this librarian will be integral to a team of three librarians and one instructional technologist who are working to strengthen the organization’s ties to the central educational mission of the College, which is to “enable students to become independent, responsible, and thoughtful individuals through a program of liberal education.”

The Web & Systems Management librarian will have governing faculty status, which entails participation in faculty meetings and the potential to serve on faculty committees.  He or she will liaise with the Science departments at Ursinus, which could include such activities as teaching classroom workshops, providing research assistance for students, attending science-related events and lectures, collaborating with the Center for Science and the Common Good, and creating online research tools.  The position’s responsibility for the Library’s systems and web resources will require a keen interest in and knowledge of trends in library systems, as the librarian will work to expand and enhance Library services by keeping up with the pace of technological change and working closely with IT colleagues to explore possibilities.  Participation in professional organizations and meetings is encouraged.
