Dear colleagues,
We are very happy to announce the publication of the expanded second edition of The World through Picture Books, enriched with sixteen new annotated country selections and with ideas on how to use them at the library.
This new, illustrated edition features fifty-two country lists of picture books recommended by librarians. That means 500 books in 37 languages! - all books are described in the language of publication and in English and are available for purchase.
This new edition proves even more the very enthusiastic, skilled participation of librarians and the great success of this international programme led by IFLA section Libraries for Children with support from section Literacy and Reading and from IBBY. Many many thanks to all the numerous colleagues from around the world that have worked for this!
You can download the catalogue at http://www.ifla.org/…/publicati…/professional-report/136.pdf
or you can order a printed copy from IFLA Headquarters (35 per copy, plus 16 for postage and handling charges + VAT, if applicable).

Also, a reminder that the complete collection of the featured picture books can be borrowed from the National Libraries of Japan and France by any library without charge except shipping and insurance costs.

Viviana Quiñones
