Reporting directly to the Director of Installation Services, the Systems Engineer, Migration Services, is responsible for migrating live multi-user UNIX systems.
Responsibilities:
· Provide technical consultation to libraries migrating their Millennium, Encore, and other Innovative systems
· Prepare new UNIX servers for migration
· Complete remote and on-site system migrations
· Provide support for field-based migrations engineer
· Coordinate with other groups and departments internally to prepare systems for migration
· Work to ensure all post-migration issues are resolved in a timely manner
· Create and maintain procedural documentation
· Manage multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines and with shifting priorities
· Other system support and installation duties as assigned
Requirements:
· Demonstrated, strong commitment to customer service
· BA/BS degree
· Minimum 2-3 years using UNIX/LINUX in a customer services, systems installation, or systems administration role
· Ability to travel up to 25%
· Experience working with technologies such as Apache, Tomcat, Postgres, MySQL
· Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, and client/server technology
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to perform detail-oriented work effectively and accurately under pressure
· Excellent troubleshooting skills
· Proven skills in problem solving and analysis in a technical environment
· Ability to work off-hours or weekends as necessary to meet customer needs
