Special Collections Librarian and Curator of the Herman T. Pott National Waterways Library
The St. Louis Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri-St. Louis is currently seeking an energetic library professional for the position of Special Collections Librarian and Curator of the Herman T. Pott National Waterways Library, the preeminent river history collection in the United States. The Mercantile Library, now in its 170th year, holds historic archival, rare book and manuscript collections in the areas of Missouri history, westward expansion, American business history, and exemplary transportation holdings in river and rail history as well as a growing collection of Missouri and Midwestern art. This position reports to the Executive Director of the St. Louis Mercantile Library.
Librarian I / II commensurate with qualifications and experience
Primary responsibilities of this position are coordinating processing, digitization and ongoing maintenance of Mercantile archival and manuscript special collections; coordinating collection development and acquisition of waterways materials in all formats; facilitating scholarly access to and ensuring long-term preservation of the special collections; providing in-depth research assistance for both in-person and distance researchers; assisting in developing and implementing Library policies; participating in maintaining and improving donor relations; participating in Mercantile and Pott Waterways special events and programs which include evenings and weekends.
