UBDC is Recruiting – Data Services Officer Post Now Live

The Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC) is currently seeking a Data Services Officer to provide a vital supporting role in its management and delivery of complex urban data sets. The successful candidate will work to curate and enhance the Centre's data collections, producing metadata and providing database support across several platforms. He or she will work closely with Centre researchers and scientific computing staff as well as external users.
The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of solutions for managing and providing access to data and for administering data services. He or she will demonstrate good problem solving skills, and the ability to interpret problems and apply appropriate data management solutions. Excellent database management skills and experience are essential. The role demands a candidate who can communicate effectively and is comfortable working both independently and in a team.
UBDC is a national Data Service funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of its second Big Data Network phase. The Data Service is an innovative platform – our staff have the opportunity to contribute not only to its development but to address broader needs associated with the management of data, and to the development of standards and best practice.
