Position Title: Librarian
GENERAL SUMMARY: As part of the university services team, the Librarian works collaboratively with campus and university librarians, instructors, IT, and support staff to deliver high quality library services to students, faculty and staff from a distance and on-campus.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver library services to students, faculty, graduates and staff at institutions in the library system both virtually and in-person.
- Create and enhance online learning materials such as specialized research guides and multimedia tutorials.
- Create and deliver training for students related to finding, accessing, evaluating and using information as part of the research process and to facilitate lifelong learning.
- Provide assistance to faculty in the creation of appropriate research assignments for undergraduate and graduate level courses.
- Create and deliver professional development training related to library/technology tools for faculty and staff working in an online and hybrid learning environment.
- Solicit faculty input for buying resources and work with other librarians in the system to identify instructional resources that enhance the curriculum.
- Participate in evening and weekend virtual reference services.
- Participate in collection development and evaluation of the libraries’ virtual collections.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Relevant library experience, preferably in an academic setting.
- Active participation in professional development activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with web-based library tools, e.g., LibGuides.
- Familiarity with information literacy standards and frameworks.
- Basic knowledge of HTML.
- Experience delivering instruction and training in an online environment.
