The NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Head, Access Services. The Access Services department connects users with library resources when and where they are needed. Both the D. H. Hill and Hunt libraries deliver service from a single service point, Ask Us, staffed by members from several public services departments. Ask Us provides short reference and circulation, including textbooks-on-reserve, and technology lending with a wide range of devices, from laptops and phone chargers to more experimental technologies such as the Oculus Rift. Access Services also includes print and electronic reserves and interlibrary loan services, and is responsible for ensuring that the two main libraries are open on a 24x5 schedule. Department staff manage a 4.6M-volume collection, including 1.6M volumes housed in the Hunt Library's bookBot, an automated storage and retrieval system.
