[LIBJOBS] Scholarly Communications Librarian, University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY, USA

The University of Wyoming seeks applicants for a Scholarly Communication Librarian to join our growing Digital Collections office. The successful candidate will provide energetic leadership for scholarly communication initiatives and will manage the institutional repository (IR).

Responsibilities: Manage the Wyoming Scholars Repository (http://repository.uwyo.edu/) including daily operations, adding and editing content, creating policies and procedures, and assessing IR functionality and usage. Work both independently and in collaboration with liaison librarians, university faculty, and the Office of Research to develop and add new content to the IR. Serve as library resource on copyright, fair use and open access issues. Coordinate workshops and training in support of the IR and other scholarly communication topics. Monitor developments in scholarly communication, open access, and related initiatives and communicate their implications to library and university stakeholders. Work closely with Digital Collections staff for IR support and maintenance.

As a member of the library faculty, the successful candidate is expected to pursue an active and ongoing program of research, service and professional development (http://www.uwyo.edu/generalcounsel/_files/docs/UW-Reg-7-631.pdf.) This position reports to the Head of Digital Collections.

Required qualifications:

ALA-accredited MLS, MIS, or equivalent

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational and writing skills

Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly publishing issues including copyright, open access, and authors' rights

Experience with institutional repository platforms (such as BePress, Dspace, or similar)

Demonstrated ability to work with digital initiatives in a library environment

Demonstrated knowledge of digital conversion, file transfer, and file management

Ability to collaborate and build relationships with librarians and university faculty in a rapidly changing environment

 

Preferred qualifications:

Experience communicating with scholarly publishers about open access, author rights, and/or copyright

Demonstrated success with project management, leading project groups/ teams, and bringing diverse stakeholders together

Knowledge of funding agency requirements for public access to research

Demonstrated ability to assess services or collections

Demonstrated research interest and scholarly activity in the field

Application and salary:

Review of applications will begin on March 18, 2016 and will continue until the position is filled or the search is terminated. Minimum salary is $47,000 dependent on qualifications and experience; 12-month appointment, 22 days' vacation; sick leave, group health insurance, state and TIAA-CREF retirement plans, no state income tax.
