Head of Youth Services- Position available due to retirement

The Jones Library, Inc. in Amherst, MA seeks a Head of Youth Services to perform highly professional public library work directing services and collections for children and young adults; providing professional assistance in the use of materials and services; and participating in the overall policy-making of the Library. Responsible for day-to-day supervision and management of all activities and staff of Youth Services. May Serve as Librarian in Charge of the Library in the absence of the Director.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree and Master's Degree in Library Science from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association, and at least three years’ experience in library operations. Experience and genuine enjoyment in working with children and knowledge of and interest in children’s literature. Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library collection development, selection tools and techniques. Knowledge of reader’s advisory techniques, reference tools, and resources. Expertise with current technology & library applications; ability to adapt to emerging technologies. Possess excellent supervisory, managerial, creative, budgeting and planning skills. Ability to work as a part of a team and maintain effective work relationships with co-workers, the general public, and partner agencies. Customer service oriented, skilled at communications with persons of diverse backgrounds.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), position with a generous benefits package. FY 16 salary range is $52,410 - 67,089.
