Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Special Collections and Archives, the Digital Services Manager: oversees and coordinates the digital conversion of print, photographic, oversize, audio and video materials from Libraries collections; works with key stakeholders to develop policies, procedures and workflows; manages outsourcing of digitization projects to external vendors as appropriate; assists in preparation of grant proposals with significant digitization components; and consults with colleagues in metadata and digital preservation to develop effective workflows and implement appropriate standards.
Basic Qualifications:
ALA-accredited Masters degree in Library/Information Science or an advanced degree with relevant experience and continuing education.
A minimum one year experience working in an academic library or other research institution.
Excellent supervisory abilities.
Strong leadership abilities.
Familiarity with digital photography.
Experience working with archives and manuscript materials in a variety of formats.
Familiarity with a wide range of digital library standards and practices, such as digitization, digital preservation, standards for media content, metadata, controlled authorities, and user experience.
Demonstrated project management skills, including but not limited to the ability to: devise and achieve agreed-upon completion dates for projects; multitask and keep priorities aligned to objectives; identify and analyze problems in the context of special collections technology initiatives, especially in the context of technology initiatives that are specific to academic libraries and special collections.
Strong commitment to customer service
Well-developed interpersonal skills
Demonstrated abilities to work collegially with staff, researchers, and colleagues.
