Hello,
We are happy to inform you that registration is now open for the 9th European e-Accessibility Forum.
The conference will be held on 8 June 2015 at the Cité des Sciences in Paris in conjunction with the 2015 Daisy Consortium Board Meeting. The theme of this year's conference is e-Accessible Knowledge.
Knowledge is a key driver of social and economic development. It helps shape individual and collective identity and can be a tool for empowerment and inclusion. Access to the digital tools of production, distribution and acquisition of knowledge for people with disabilities is therefore of crucial importance in modern society. This conference will explore how ICTs can help to overcome disparities and greatly enhance access to knowledge for all.
This year's impressive speaker lineup includes:
* US attorney Daniel GOLDSTEIN who will outline legislative and litigation efforts taken to make accessible instructional technology and materials the default, before looking at what efforts need to be taken to fix the barriers students with disabilities are still facing in instruction.
* Betsy BEAUMON of the DIAGRAM Center who will present new standards and resources available to educational content creators to help them create complex images that are “born accessible”.
* Dr Edouard GENTAZ of Geneva University who will present the different forms of learning used by humans during their development and explore how multisensory approaches, some of which integrate new technologies, can help develop basic skills such as reading, writing and geometry.
Other confirmed speakers include Alex BERNIER of BrailleNet, George KERSCHER of the DAISY Consortium, Jean MILLERAT of the French National Center for Distance Learning, Paul NISBET of CALL Scotland, Neil SOIFFER of Design Science and Volker SORGE of the University of Birmingham.
