Bulletin #12076; 11/9/12 HEAD OF ACCESS SERVICE Library Services Specialist IV, #120076 University Library Salary Range: $3524 - $5639/Month Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required; Schedule work hours may be temporarily adjusted to meet special operational needs of the University and Unit. Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Associate University Librarian, the incumbent is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all aspects of Access Services, including Circulation, Reserves, Stacks Maintenance, and Interlibrary Loan. Incumbent will develop and review policy and procedures as appropriate to Access Services units; analyze workflow processes for efficiency; resolve issues, concerns, and complaints related to Access Services that are presented by Library users; plan and manage access services operations ensuring maximum efficiencies are utilized, and will compile data for reporting and evaluation; hire and evaluate permanent staff and coordinates training plan for staff; oversee hiring and evaluating of student assistants, prepare budget and monitor expenditures for student assistant workforce; keep current with technology in the area of Access Services, use the Library 's integrated library system (ILS); and other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications and Experience: Incumbent must possess at least three years of experience working in a customer service capacity in a library environment. Incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills; knowledge of the fundamentals and practices of library access services; and excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Incumbent must have the ability to work well under pressure, work independently, and ability to adjust priorities when necessary; interpret and apply standards in a local setting and to initiate appropriate policies, practices and projects; successfully train, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff and student assistants; strong written and verbal skills; and ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Special Desired Qualifications: Ability to adapt to change in a transitional environment; demonstrate experience working with a variety of the Library 's integrated library system modules; familiarity with Library of Congress, Superintendent of Documents, and Dewey classification schedule; and experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
