Position:         Director of Digital Media Services

 

Location:        New York

 

FOX News is looking for an experienced manager to lead its Digital Media Services Department in New York.   Digital Media Services is composed of both a Digital Video Asset and Legacy Videotape Libraries.   This position interfaces closely with FOX News and FOX Business Network's Media Desk to provide show production teams with video content as well as FOX's Legal Department.  The candidate should have a strong knowledge of emerging technologies in Media Asset Management and an understanding of how to monetize video assets.

 

Skills Required:

• Experience working with both digital and legacy videotape libraries at a management level.
• Must have hands-on experience dealing directly with staff and personnel issues.
• Expert knowledge of Digital Media Management and general library best practices.
• Have knowledge of copyright restrictions, "fair use" and licensing of material from outside parties.
• Must understand all aspects of dealing with metadata and digital & tape video in a fast-paced news environment.
• Be able to work well under pressure, possess strong communication skills and be a team player.

 

Duties include:

• Managing the creation and maintenance of digital libraries in New York and bureaus.
• Consulting with technical and editorial groups to initiate new projects, identify weaknesses, solve problems and improve service to all clients.
• Managing payroll, scheduling, dub room, offsite storage of large numbers of tapes, and a tape vault with over 15,000 items.

 

Qualifications:

·         7-10 years of professional digital news library experience.

·         Masters degree in Library Science preferred.

·         Willing to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.

·         Excellent knowledge of, and interest in, history, current events and news personalities.

·         Knowledge of Ardome Digital Media Asset Management system and iNews  News Production application preferred or other comparable systems.

·         Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

·         Excellent computer skills including knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.

·         Prior television news production experience strongly preferred.

·         Highly-motivated individual with a propensity towards working independently and/or within a group.
