Position Title: Librarian Supervisor
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree from an American Library Association accredited institution.
Three (3) years supervisory and public services in library experience.
Knowledge of personnel supervision, reference service, database searching, and selection of library materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five (5) years supervisory experience in community college library. Bilingual (English and Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply.
Experience with Millennium system is desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Access.
Responsibilities:
Supervises the performance of all public service functions, including reference services, and implements the training, scheduling and evaluation of all public services personnel.
Supervises the acquisition of library books, databases, periodicals and microfilm and the expenditure of the public services acquisitions budget.
Provides direct assistance to students, faculty, staff and the general public including performing research, database searching, location of books and other materials, use of SOS and Blackboard functions.
Devises and conducts library instructional sessions and handouts for students and faculty.
Serves as library liaison for designated departments during the annual program review.
Participates in the Embedded Librarian program to provide library services and information to classes through Blackboard.
Evaluates library materials for deaccessioning and remove deaccessioned materials from the library's online catalogue.
Produces monthly materials statistical reports for the Director.
Produces annual statistical reports for the Director.
Participates in interviewing and make recommendations on hiring of new personnel to the Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Work hours:
Twelve (12) month position
Forty (40) hours per week
Monday through Friday
8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Must be available for evening and weekend hours as needed.
