Instructional Services LibrarianFranklin College Switzerland is seeking an Instructional Services Librarian. Position Description This position is based on campus in Switzerland and reports to the Dean of Student Support & Information Services/Library Director. The Instructional Services Librarian will be responsible for the development and delivery of an instructional services program designed to ensure that students, faculty, and staff are aware of library and information technology resources and services and that these resources are used in the most suitable and efficient way.
Qualifications - Master's Degree in library or information science
- Experience of working in an academic library
- Fluency in English. Spoken and/or written knowledge of another language, preferably Italian, German or French, is desirable
- Knowledge of issues and trends in information and instructional services
- Must demonstrate excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Must demonstrate excellent presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide reference and instructional services in an academic library setting
- Good knowledge of commonly used software, such as Microsoft Office
- Strong commitment to public service
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and as part of a team to maintain and improve library services
- Competence in basic copy-cataloguing procedures is desirable
Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Dean of Student Support & Information Services/Library Director, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Providing of a Reference Service for students, faculty and staff
- Developing an Information Services Instructional Program (in conjunction with the Dean of SSIS/Library Director, the Director of IT Services, and the Director of the Writing Center). The program will include both library and information skills, and IT literacy
- Teaching Information Skills to the Library's Life-Long Learning Scholars
- Preparing print and electronic instruction tools
- Developing and maintaining the Library web site, under the direction of the Dean of SSIS/Library Director
- Developing and maintaining the Library's presence within the College's Course Management System (Moodle)
- Assisting in the cataloguing and processing of library materials and the processing of inter-library loans
