PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: With a strong service orientation provide leadership, coordination and supervision to all library access service operations including management of the library’s circulation services area, reserve system functions, and OhioLINK PCIRC & interlibrary loan tasks; contribute to collection development activities and instruction services; provide supervision of building and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS or related graduate degree and academic library experience; supervisory experience; competency with computers and software; experience working with an integrated library system; ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in technology; highly motivated and organized, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and students; ability to work productively in a team environment or alone; high degree of accuracy in complex, detailed work; strong commitment to service excellence; ability to balance varied responsibilities; demonstrated understanding of current trends in information management and retrieval; willingness to work with and mentor students; ability to work evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Innovative Interfaces Integrated Library System, ILLiad, ERes and ANGEL Learning Management systems; familiarity with OhioLINK; reference, collection development and faculty liaison experience; instruction skills.

Position Description

 

·         Coordinates and administers the development and implementation of library- and media-integrated technology systems; administers systems and services through state consortia, commercial vendors and college departments.

·         Provides leadership and expertise in intranet and internet development, archives, record retention, microphotography, digitization and other information services.

·         Serves as the college library representative for state consortia and networks; provides leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of statewide library systems.

Required Qualifications:  Master’s degree in library or information science and over seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience.

The Lillian Goldman Law Library is located within the heart of the Yale Law School complex, providing the Law School community with ready access to one of the world's finest collections of printed legal materials. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Associate Director for Technical Services, the Librarian for Digital Resources oversees the lifecycle of all Law Library electronic resources purchases and subscriptions, from trials to payments, including renewals and cancellations. Troubleshoots all problem reports. Liaises with Law Library departments and committees regarding electronic resources management and represents the Law Library on University Library committees related to electronic resources. Expected to keep abreast of initiatives in electronic publishing and to be professionally active.  NOTE: Review of applications will begin immediately and posting will close on March 14, 2011.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages the lifecycle of e-journals, packages of e-resources and other electronic content, purchased or subscribed to by the Law Library.  Maintains and manages productive vendor relationships with producers and providers of e-resources.  Addresses authorization and authentication issues for e-resources.

Creates records and maintains e-journal coverage information data in Innovative Interfaces electronic resources management system (ERM).  Maintains and manages productive vendor relationships with producers and providers of bibliographic records for e-journals, packages of e-resources and other electronic content. Maintains Law Library’s Serials Solutions database.  Downloads bibliographic records for e-journals and other electronic content. Creates new load tables as required.  Monitors quality of records from vendors and performs database maintenance projects as necessary to integrate records with MORRIS database.

 

Coordinates with Associate Librarian for Collections to insure that licenses conform to Yale University and Law School guidelines. Maintains licensing details in ERM and other Law Library databases.  Sets up and monitors usage statistics gathered through ERM or collected directly from vendors.  Verifies the accuracy of URLs in bibliographic records using Innovative Interfaces URL checking software.  Troubleshoots all problem reports including access and billing issues. Communicates with vendors/publishers to expedite and sustain access to electronic resources.  Coordinates with references librarians and selectors to monitor trials of electronic resource, renewals, and plans for discontinuation of resources.  Coordinates with Librarian for Acquisitions and Continuing Resources to manage the relationship between print and online subscriptions to e-journals.  Creates bibliographic data for e-resources not included in vendor supplied metadata sets.  In the absence of the Librarian for Acquisitions and Continuing Resources, manages transmission of electronic vouchers to University accounts payable and downloads records for new acquisitions received by the library.

 

Represents the Law Library on University Library committees related to electronic resources. Participates in library planning committees and task forces and engages in campus, regional, and national professional organizations and collaborative activities. Expected to be professionally active and represents the Library and the University in the academic, scholarly, and professional community.  Will be cross-trained in other technical services functions as required.  May be required to assist in disaster recovery efforts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program for library and information science and a minimum of two years of professional experience, and demonstrated professional accomplishments appropriate to the rank; preferably with at least 1 year of experience supporting electronic resource activities. Appointment to the rank of Librarian III requires at least five years of professional experience, and demonstrated professional accomplishments appropriate to the rank; preferably with at least 2 years of experience supporting electronic resource activities.

 

Experience with print or electronic serials control.  Experience with an Electronic Resource Management tool, preferably Innovative Interfaces' ERM.  Knowledge of the electronic publishing environment and scholarly communication issues.  Familiarity with MARC and basic understanding of authority control.  Strong computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, and an integrated library system (ILS), preferably Innovative Interfaces Millennium. Ability and willingness to learn new applications.  Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot e-resources access issues, review and identify issues with licenses.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment with collegiality, flexibility, and accuracy and attention to detail.  Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.

This position is based on campus in Switzerland and reports to the Dean of Student Support & Information Services/Library Director. The Instructional Services Librarian will be responsible for the development and delivery of an instructional services program designed to ensure that students, faculty, and staff are aware of library and information technology resources and services and that these resources are used in the most suitable and efficient way.

If you are a dynamic, knowledgeable, energetic, innovative, service-oriented individual, excited by the challenges facing today’s academic libraries, then the Texas A&M University Libraries is the place for you.  We are seeking candidates with these attributes for a position to help describe and manage our growing digital library collections, faculty research collections, and data.  This is a tenure-track position with faculty status and rank and requires the ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track appointment.  Entry-level librarians are encouraged to apply.

 

Position Description:  The Metadata Librarian is responsible for providing metadata expertise and serves as the primary resource on non-MARC metadata design, structure, and standards (descriptive, technical, administrative/preservation) for the University libraries. The Metadata librarian assists in developing and implementing metadata strategies for discovery, access, management, and preservation of digital assets; evaluates projects slated for inclusion in the Texas A&M University digital library; and assesses user needs in order to develop appropriate metadata schemes for complex heterogeneous collections.  The librarian is expected to consult with TAMU faculty regarding metadata for datasets and research collections, as well as provide metadata support for the digital repository and the Texas Digital Library Preservation Network.  The librarian serves on Texas Digital Library committees and working groups as assigned.  The librarian is expected to maintain awareness of national metadata and digital library standards in order to apply this knowledge in digital projects, make informed policy decisions, and serve as a general resource of knowledge for Texas A&M University and its affiliates, including providing consultation services, training, and participating on Texas A&M University committees as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:  

  • ALA-accredited Masters degree (or equivalent)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A commitment to strong customer service within and outside the libraries
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills complemented by the ability to take initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to perform detailed work accurately and quickly

  • Working knowledge of the use of cataloging principles, and an understanding of controlled vocabularies, taxonomies, and ontologies

The Libraries: Texas A&M University Libraries is a member of Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and is the University’s principal research and information center, providing 4.8 million volumes, 5.7 million microforms, 108,064 print and electronic serial titles, 936,270 electronic books, and 1,214 databases. The University ranks 11th among ARL libraries in materials expenditures, with an acquisition budget of $18.4 million. There is a total budgeted staff of 274, including 80+librarians with faculty status. Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean of Student Support & Information Services/library Director, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing a Reference Service for students, faculty and staff
  • Developing an Information Services Instructional Program (in conjunction with the Dean of SSIS/Library Director, the Director of IT Services, and the Director of the Writing Center). The program will include both library and information skills, and IT literacy
  • Teaching Information Skills to the Library's Life-long Learning Scholars
  • Preparing print and electronic instruction tools
  • Developing and maintaining the Library web site, under the direction of the Dean of SSIS/Library Director
  • Developing and maintaining the Library's presence within the College's Course Management System (Moodle)
  • Assisting in the cataloguing and processing of library materials and the processing of inter-library loans

Nursing Liaison Librarian

 

This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Head, Library Research Services. The incumbent will be the Library's liaison for the newly-created Faculty of Nursing and will work in collaboration with the library services at SIAST (Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology) to deliver services to the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBsCN) program (see http://www.uregina.ca/nursing/). 

 

The Nursing Liaison Librarian will develop and deliver instruction sessions (in-person, online, and other means), develop the Library's collection and related information resources, and will provide specialized reference service and research consultations by appointment with faculty and students. It is anticipated the service provided by the Nursing Liaison Librarian will be integral to the Nursing faculty who are committed to embedding information literacy skills instruction throughout the curriculum. The Nursing program will include a substantial distance education component, requiring the Nursing Liaison Librarian to deliver information services and instruction to these students as well.

 

The Nursing Liaison Librarian will work collaboratively with library colleagues on a range of issues including, but not limited to, instruction, collections development, distance education, emerging technologies, policy formulation, and implementation of the Library's Strategic Plan. 

 

Requirements Master's degree from an American Library Association accredited program in information/library science.  A minimum of two years of professional experience in the area of nursing or health-sciences librarianship.  Knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in instruction and reference delivery, and collections development.
