New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks applications and nominations from the academic and corporate sectors for the position of Dean of the Ying Wu College of Computing (CCS).
LOCATION: NJIT is located 30 minutes from Silicon Alley and New York City by train. The area has a high concentration of industry and businesses, with many opportunities for research collaboration and internships. The area offers a variety of living environments from lively urban to quiet suburbs with excellent school districts, to hills, farmland and the shore.
CONSTITUENCIES AND STRENGTHS: CCS, established in 2001, is comprised of the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Information Systems (to be renamed Department of Informatics), and the Information Technology Program. The College enrolls approximately 2385 students, including 1390 undergraduates, 925 master students, and 70 doctoral students; these students, representing about 21 percent of NJIT's student body, are taught by 37 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 23 full-time, non-tenure track faculty. Undergraduate degree programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology are ABET accredited. CCS has a strong research focus, with over 40 active grants and $13m in predominantly federal agency funding, including but not limited to Cyber Security and Networking, Data Analytics, Cyber-Human Systems, and Game Design. Based on the 2015 Shanghai Rankings, TheBestSchools.org released its top 100 Computer Science programs in the world, with NJIT's program ranked 47 in the United States and 100 globally. The Princeton Review chose NJIT as one of the top 50 undergraduate schools for Game Design in 2016.
