Position Title: Librarian
Supervisor’s Title: Director of Library Services
General Summary: The Librarian works collaboratively with campus librarians, instructors, IT, and campus support staff to deliver high quality library services to American National University students, faculty and staff from a distance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Deliver library services from a distance for online and hybrid courses.
2. Create and enhance online learning materials such as specialized research guides and multimedia tutorials.
3. Create and deliver training for students related to finding, accessing, evaluating and using information as part of the research process and to facilitate lifelong learning.
4. Provide assistance to faculty in the creation of appropriate research assignments for Bachelor and graduate level courses.
5. Create and deliver professional development training related to library/technology tools for faculty and staff working with online, and hybrid learning.
6. Participate in evening and weekend virtual reference services.
7. Participate in collection development and evaluation of the libraries’ virtual collections.
8. Keep informed of current professional developments and participate in professional library association(s).
9. Other administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Relevant library experience, preferably in an academic setting.
Active participation in professional development activities.
Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with web-based library tools.
Familiarity with information literacy standards and frameworks.
Basic knowledge of HTML.
Experience delivering instruction and training in an online environment.
