[CHILD-YA] Invitation from South African colleagues

Please find below an invitation from Ujala Satgoor, co-chair of the National Committee for the organization of next IFLA conference and immediate past president of the Library Association of South Africa:

Dear Colleagues

The art of knitting and crocheting has gained new prominence through the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day Campaign which aims to wrap the disadvantaged in our communities in handmade blankets. The spontaneous outpouring of goodwill and "good wool" has indeed been amazing and is strongly imbued by a spirit of camaraderie, giving, sharing, teaching and learning.

Therefore I would like to invite you and your colleagues to add your weight to this project. We have invited and challenged librarians and libraries to bring along or send completed blankets, knee rugs or baby blankets (Sizes: 100 X 100 cm baby blankets, 140 cm X 180cm single bed) to the 2015 IFLA Congress where we will handover our contributions to the 67 Blankets Project, which will be exhibiting at the the SA Hub.
For this to be successful, let's do the following:
1. Set a target of 67 blankets! (I know we can do more!)
2. Start a campaign/project amongst your staff, family or friends
3. Join the Knitting Librarians (Group) or Knitting Librarians page (https://www.facebook.com/knittinglibrarians) on Facebook
4. Take & post pictures of your efforts on the group page

We would like to tie this campaign to the Gift a Book project and handover both books and blankets to the identified schools. So let's get creative and share what we have, make those beautiful items for somebody less fortunate and spread the Madiba magic!
