Eric Weinmann Librarian- Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington DC
The Folger Shakespeare Library invites nominations and applications for the position of Eric Weinmann Librarian. The Folger, located in Washington, DC, is a world-renowned research center on Shakespeare and on the early modern age from 1450 to the mid-1700s. The Librarian, a member of the Folger's senior management team, provides leadership for all library operations, supervising a staff of approximately forty employees in seven areas: collection information services (including acquisitions, cataloging, and photography & digital imaging), conservation, curatorial, exhibition development, reference, research services, and security of the collection. The Librarian administers the Central Library Division and is charged with: strengthening physical, descriptive, and virtual access to, and preservation of, the Library’s extensive holdings; fostering innovation in library services; implementing new technologies; and promoting ongoing staff development and growth. The Librarian manages an annual budget of approximately $3.8M, including–in consultation with the Library’s subject specialists–acquisition expenditures of approximately $1M.
