The Provincial Library & Literacy Office requires a dynamic and highly motivated professional librarian to create a strategic plan to develop province-wide e-library services which integrates the library services of Saskatchewan's ten public library systems and could be extended to 28 school divisions and other types of libraries. This position oversees research and develops strategies that support partnerships among all types of libraries and other information providers in order to realize and enhance the Ministry of Education's vision for one-stop public access to digitized documents and information. You will be results-oriented, with excellent communications skills and the capability of working in a diverse team setting.
You will be responsible for managing the Provincial Library & Literacy Office's partnership with the Information Technology Office, administering Provincial Library & Literacy Office's library applications and systems by overseeing all library information technology (IT) activities, planning and developing remote sites, resolving interoperability issues and technical problems, implementing system enhancements and upgrades, and developing province-wide library IT standards and policies. You will write policy papers and briefing materials for library systems and government regarding e-library services. You will manage and represent public library interests on technology and e-library service issues by analysing issues and options, advising and making recommendations to senior governments (provincial and federal) and serving on advisory bodies.
Typically, a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science, in-depth knowledge of library applications and software, and experience in leadership roles within a library environment is required for this position. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
