The NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Research Librarian for Management, Education, and the Social Sciences in the Research and Information Services department. Major areas of emphasis for the department include engaging with faculty and students around current and emerging digital technologies for learning and research, while providing outreach and consultation in person and via email, text messaging, online chat, and the web. Department staff (eleven librarians, three staff, plus graduate/student assistants) help students to develop critical and creative thinking skills in their research; create online tutorials, video demonstrations, and web-based guides; provide geospatial and numeric data services and training; and work with students and faculty to help them use the Libraries' collections, spaces, and services. This position reports to the Associate Head for Research and Graduate Services, Research and Information Services department. ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree is required.
