The State Library of New South Wales is one of the world's great libraries renowned for its extraordinary collection relating to the discovery and exploration of Australia and the Pacific.  Through its unique holdings and its wide-ranging services, the State Library is central to the cultural life and economy of NSW.  It is a knowledge landmark and a cultural destination that attracts scholars, students, the Sydney public and local and international visitors.   An innovative gateway to information and cultural enrichment and a proactive partner in knowledge creation, the Library informs, educates, inspires and surprises online, on site and on tour.  

At a very exciting time to join the State Library, the Director, Library Services will lead its library programs and services and drive innovation.  With accountability for providing leadership to over 60% of the Library's staff, the Director will be responsible for collection development, acquisition, preservation and storage, access and information, original materials, collection services and eRecords. 

The new Director will bring a strong ethical perspective with a focus on innovation, a demonstrated record of fostering collaboration with others, ability to get to the nub of an issue or problem quickly and a track record in leading the development, implementation and evaluation of library and related information services and programs.  Additionally, the successful candidate will have an impressive record in people and organisational leadership.
