The Special Services Library Representative works with libraries on a billable basis for specific, contracted services. The Special Services Library Representative may also help design onetime fee-based services and continue to provide these services on an ongoing basis. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as an Application Coordinator/Millennium Application Manager or Personal Service Representative for libraries that need to augment staff or for large complex libraries that need a high level of support.
  • Provide overall management of an INN-Reach system (act as primary contact for potential new members, direct and oversee new member implementation, manage new feature rollouts, coordinate all phases of INN-Reach system modifications and updates with the Union Databases Department and other Innovative departments as needed.) 
  • Provide fee-based services that have been developed within the Special Services Unit. 
  • Create and provide custom services based on specific library needs.
  • Make routine system changes, monitor system status, and provide advice and instruction on how to make optimal use of the Innovative system.
  •  Provide planning assistance, project management, and representation at Innovative for a library’s special requirements. 
  • Coordinate with other Innovative departments to facilitate resolution of the library’s most important issues.
  • Track billable hours and provide the library with a monthly report.
  • Use Innovative software, UNIX utilities, SQL, and web design software tools to provide specific services.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise with a fee-based service or with Innovative software related to the provision of a service.
  • Provide overview and tips for the Library’s ongoing use of the product or feature included in the fee-based service.
  • Provide assistance to sales personnel with requests for quotes for services.
  • Assist with the design of new service packages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

 

  • MLS or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience working with Innovative systems.
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of Innovative applications and options.
  • Strong knowledge of the Innovative product line.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across department boundaries.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage Library relationships.
  • Sound understanding of technical practices and procedures.
  • Some travel required.

 

Desired

  • Knowledge of the technical side of Innovative applications including trouble-shooting procedures.
  • Familiarity with Web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, Open URL.
  • Knowledge of SQL and scripting languages.
