Support Engineer

 

Innovative Interfaces is a leading provider of integrated library management solutions for public, academic and corporate libraries. We are currently seeking a Support Engineer to join the Discovery Services Unit of the Library Services Department. Discovery Services is responsible for delivering operational services for the Encore platform of products, including Discovery, Synergy and Harvesting Services. The ideal candidate for this position will be an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

This position will be based out of Innovative Interfaces corporate headquarters in Emeryville, CA.  Remote employment for this position is not available.

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide extensive customer email and phone support to libraries using Innovative's Encore Synergy software products on large multi-user UNIX systems.
• Coordinate support of integrated products for Encore Synergy systems.
• Implement and configure options and software for new Encore Synergy installations in production and beta environments.
• Participate in the development and support of Synergy connector technology.
• Provide instruction to Innovative staff on features and functionality of Encore Synergy.
• Assist in the creation and ongoing development of processes and procedural documentation for both internal and external use.
• Facilitate communication between Discovery Services and other departments.
• Perform other service and support tasks as needed.

Requirements:

• Computer Science degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency with UNIX, Apache, Tomcat, and SQL queries.
• Familiarity with Web Services models, AJAX technologies, HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with Open URL and link resolver technologies preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Present, learn, and apply new technologies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide exceptional customer service in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while being a positive and supportive team member.

Desired Skills:

• Scripting experience.
• MLS, MLIS, or working knowledge of library operations strongly preferred.
