Overview of the position:
We are seeking three innovative, experienced and professional librarians to contribute fully to the Library’s digital initiatives program. These newly created positions will act as project managers for digitization projects by assisting with the development and management of the Library’s locally created digital collections.
These positions will report to the Digital Initiatives Coordinator and consult broadly with library staff in the planning of digitization projects while also assuming responsibility for the coordination and management of contracts, staff, services and additional projects as required.

Qualifications and requirements:
Required:
· A graduate degree from an accredited programme in Library Science.
· Relevant professional experience including project management, planning and implementation; team lead and staff coordination.
· Familiarity with the digital library environment including but not limited to demonstrated broad knowledge of current digital reformatting and digital conversion trends; issues relating to the application of metadata to digital objects; demonstrated knowledge of digital reformatting and digital conversion policies and technical procedures.
· Experience with digitization projects.
· Knowledge of website design and construction, communications and metadata standards, and best practices in digital projects.
· Extensive knowledge of the hardware and software associated with digitization work.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated project management skills, both independently and as a member of a team.
· Flexibility and willingness to assume a variety of assignments.
· Creative problem solving skills.
Preferred:
· Supervisory or related staff coordination experience, such as project team lead assignments, especially around scheduling staff and managing workflows.
· Experience in a research or other large academic library.
· Knowledge of intellectual property and copyright issues as they relate to digital reformatting and scholarly communication
· Knowledge about scholarly communication issues and strong interest in pursuing the development of alternative publishing venues for faculty and students
· Experience with archival collections containing non-print materials such as microforms, disks, films and audio recordings in various formats.
· Working knowledge of a range of computing platforms, storage environments, digital library metadata and operational experience with any of the following tools: CONTENTdm, DSpace
· Experience with photography and scanning in a library or archival environment sufficient to be fluently conversant with image capture and manipulation issues
Terms of Appointment and Salary:
This position will be filled as a full time ongoing position. If eligible and qualified, the successful applicant may be appointed with a confirmed appointment. Otherwise, there will be an initial three-year probationary appointment. Normally, such an appointment is reviewed by the end of the second year of appointment, and a recommendation is made at that time to grant or not to grant a confirmed appointment.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and academic/professional qualifications.
