Coordinator of Collection Development/Management & Acquisitions Delgado Community College

 

 

Job Summary/Basic Function:

 

Responsibilities: Delgado Community College seeks an energetic and creative librarian to serve as Coordinator of Collection Development/Management & Acquisitions. The librarian is responsible for direct collection planning and leading implementation of traditional, digital, and future services in acquisitions and collection development/management; enhancing service quality and operational efficiency; overseeing continuing resources and statistical activities; leading support staff; maintaining faculty liaison programs in assigned subject/academic disciplines; fostering effective working relationships with all constituents; participating in performance reviews, analyzing workflows; recommending, designing, and implementing changes as needed; contributing to system-wide planning, policy making, and assessment. This position may be responsible for travelling to other library locations to provide onsite service and should be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends. 

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Work Experience:

 

Demonstrated knowledge of library collection development operations, integrated library systems, and print & electronic acquisitions; a minimum of one year experience managing, training, and supervising in an academic setting; proficient with statistical and spreadsheet applications; familiar with budget and financial activities related to acquisitions and collection development; knowledge of MARC format and cataloging practices; ability to work independently and effectively across organization lines and in collaboration with a variety of individuals and groups; an aptitude for detail oriented work; demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, oral and written communications and strong analytical and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, service oriented rapidly changing environment to accomplish mutual goals.

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Work Experience:

 

Three or more years operational experience in collections, and budgeting; experience with the Sirsi/Dynix Symphony library system; knowledge of collections and technical services automation, issues, and trends; experience working with vendors and publishers; experience administering a major unit within a college library; supervisory experience and a management style that empowers others; ability to work well with a diverse community in a collegial manner; strong analytical and decision-making skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to represent the Libraries within the College and to external audiences as well. 

 

Minimum Education:

 

Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from a college or university accredited by the American Library Association. 

Preferred Education (if different from minimum)
