The Saskatchewan Provincial Library is seeking a professional librarian to develop, co-ordinate and implement policies and programs related to mulitype library services in Saskatchewan and to provide support to the Multitype Library Board in the implementation of its strategic plan.
The successful candidate will coordinate the multitype database licensing program and support the achievement of other goals and objectives of the Multitype Library Board.
The Provincial Library is entrusted through The Public Libraries Act, 1996, to co-ordinate and support the province-wide public library system. It also administers The Libraries Co-operation Act, and provides secretariat support to the Multitype Library Board, which encourages co-operation and resource-sharing among all libraries throughout the province.
The Candidate would need knowledge and skills in the area of e-resource licensing and management, research and analysis, communications and consensus building. Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a Masters degree in Library Science.

You will have knowledge of:
· electronic information resource management, including licensing, access management and collection development;
· multitype library development in Saskatchewan, and of all library sectors - school, special, and post-secondary education libraries;
· project management techniques;
· facilitation and consensus building techniques and adult education methods;
· Saskatchewan legislation regulating library services and establishing the Multitype library system: The Libraries Co-operation Act and The Public Libraries Act, 1996; and
· theory and principles of library science.
You will have demonstrated the ability to:
· communicate in both written and oral forms; write proposals, discussion papers, and briefing material; and, deliver information through public speaking, and presentations;analyze trends and issues, identify and develop options or solutions, and make policy recommendations for development of the multitype library system;
· consult and work with other organizations, colleagues, individuals and communities to develop positive working relationships and establish partnerships;
· plan, develop, facilitate meetings or information sessions;
· employ project management techniques to manage province-wide projects in a manner consistent with Provincial Library operations;
· assist libraries in identifying and providing continuing education opportunities for their staff related to the delivery of electronic information and services; and
· identify technical issues or problems and problem-solve including generating potential solutions, particularly with respect to electronic resources.
