We have multiple night shift (6pm till 2am) 6 month + contract opportunities
for Senior Linux System Engineers with expertise in CentOS, Debian, Redhat,
Apache, Nagios, VMware.
As a System Administrator you will work as part of a global engineering team
and primarily focussed on responding to system alerts and prioritising and
troubleshooting, incident management, monitoring, software releases for the
enterprise customers in the European time zone.
This role is in a new team and rapidly changing product environment, so
flexibility and initiative will be highly regarded on the production
environment.

Specifics:
?Responding to system alerts, prioritising and
resolving incidents to restore service
?Help to develop key processes around incident
management and communication across the business
?Be the on-shift incident controller, communicating
updates to other internal departments
?Analysis, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and root-cause
analysis of incidents in a global team
?Plan and schedule maintenance windows to action
hardware repairs and system fixes on the production environment
?Work with their software development teams to release
software into production
?Work with other relevant internal teams to develop
procedures and processes
?Maintenance of wiki and technical documentation for
processes and procedures used throughout normal operations
?This role bears significant responsibility for
customer perception of the On-Demand platform, both in skills and
responsiveness
Skills and requirements:
?Collaborative, creative, innovating and HIGHLY TECHNICAL!
?Must be able to demonstrate fluency (3-5 years of experience) with Linux
system administration and troubleshooting tasks Centos, Debian, Redhat)
?Experience with Python, Bash, etc
?3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced operations environment
?Understanding of Java specific performance issues and their resolution.
E.g. garbage collection issues, heap sizing
?Able to perform monitoring and metrics analysis of production servers
using common monitoring tools such as Nagios, collectd, graphite or Zabbix
?Experience with multiple core Internet technologies such as forward and
reverse proxy servers (Squid/ NginX/ Apache), DNS, Networking (Foundry,
Juniper or Cisco)
?Analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
?Experience working in an Incident Management environment
?Experience with java/J2EE, either programming or administration
?Able to collate and interpret data from various sources
?Work well in a busy team, being quick to learn and able to deal with a
wide range of issues Operational tools development experience
?Excellent, and I mean EXCELLENT written and verbal communication skills,
with the ability to be confident and succinct in both technical and business
discussions
