As the Midland Library Supervisor, you will plan, organize, direct and supervise public services staff and co-manage the operations within the library. You will provide reference and readers' advisory services to the public; and perform a variety of administrative and technical tasks related to library services, including responsibility for the library building.
Specifically, you will assign and supervise the work of all access services staff and volunteers to ensure efficient and effective branch services. You will participate in the selection of staff and coordinate staff training. You will mentor and encourage the professional development of staff; complete performance reviews for staff; provide coaching and counseling to staff; and address staff performance issues. You will support the integration and recognition of volunteers at Midland.
You will represent the library and provide outreach to a large diverse community. You will attend meetings of local community groups and be participating in community activities; be a liaison to various local agencies and groups; and partner with neighbors to resolve common problems.
You will work with the Midland Library Manager, Neighborhood Libraries Director, Branch Administration staff and other library managers to develop library goals and objectives. You will manage projects and serve on system-wide committees and teams encouraging participation by staff as appropriate. You will contribute to strategic planning for branch operations; conduct neighborhood analysis and needs assessment and develop/change services to meet community needs.
