Director for Administrative Services
The University of Arkansas Libraries invite applications from and nominations of experienced, highly-motivated, and innovative professionals for the position of Director for Administrative Services. The Libraries seek an individual with an inclusive leadership style and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to consider issues from a variety of perspectives. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Director will play a critical role in supporting the evolution of a 21st century research library at the University. As a member of the Libraries’ Administrative Group, the Director works collaboratively to develop and achieve the Libraries’ strategic goals.
This position oversees and supervises budgeting, accounting, procurement, space planning, and facilities maintenance for Mullins Library, the Fine Arts Library, the Chemistry & Biochemistry Library, the Physics Library, and a remote storage facility. The Director plays a leadership role in the formulation and assessment of Libraries-wide services, policies, and diversity initiatives. The Director must embrace, model, and encourage teamwork, collaboration, relationship-building, and mentoring.
Qualifications. Required: A Master’s degree in Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Accounting, or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification; a minimum of ten years of experience that demonstrates knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices. Knowledge of current practices and trends in facilities management. A proven record of successful leadership and demonstrated ability to manage personnel. Demonstrated success in leading and fostering innovation in a rapidly changing and complex environment. Preferred: A Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited program. Successful project management experience. Experience in an academic or research library or higher education/university setting. Experience with building design. Experience with writing and administering grants.
Salary and Benefits: Twelve-month, non-classified, non-faculty position. Salary minimum: $90,000. Relocation allowance available. Benefits include TIAA/CREF, Fidelity Mutual Fund, or the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System, 22 days of annual leave, tuition reduction, and health insurance.
