Information Services Librarian/ Knowledge Management Coordinator-20892 Description POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Manager, Information Services, the Information Services Librarian will provide virtual and traditional reference services, participate in the eLibrary’s information literacy program, liaison program, outreach activities, web content/development, and collection development activities. The Information Services Librarian will serve as Knowledge Management Coordinator. Specific responsibilities for this role are described in the attached Addendum. Coordinating roles can be re-assigned for the purpose of cross-training and professional development. Participation on WCMC-Q committees, teams, task forces, and involvement in special projects is expected as deemed necessary or as assigned by the Manager, Information Services, or the Director. Collaborate with colleagues at WCMC in New York as needed. Professional involvement and development is expected The Information Services Librarian will engage in professional development activities. Must be flexible regarding hours, which may be altered as needs arise. POSITION ACTIVITIES
· Utilize current technology and tools, participate in preparing and providing bibliographic instruction, including workshops, both curricular and extra-curricular, for the WCMC-Q students, faculty, and staff, and for affiliated and non-affiliated institutions as required. · Participate in the Library Liaison Program, including instruction, course support and collection development in assigned area(s); assist in the preparation and updating of subject guides, course support materials, and other relevant content on the eLibrary’s website. · Assist in the publication of in-house materials, such as brochures, posters, newsletter, informational and/or instructional handouts, monthly displays, and other patron-related communications. Professional Activities: · Conduct research and write for publication (minimum one annual peer-reviewed publication, single or co-authored) relevant to the work of the section and/or to the field of Library and Information Science. · Participate in professional associations and activities, which support the subject areas covered by the section and the profession, i.e. professional office, committee membership or leadership, listserv management, website maintenance and others. · Participate in a structured program of Continuing Education through any of the following, but not limited to: Professional association sponsored activities or programs; Commercial organization sponsored activities and seminars; Lectures and demonstrations; or, formal instruction at a university or college in a job related subject. Join AHIP or equivalent professional development program within one year of joining WCMC-Q. · Responsibilities for Knowledge Management Coordinator: · Planning, developing and implementing programs, projects and services within the coordinating role. She/he is expected to administer Systematic Review Services, the Knowledge Management Portal. · Managing all facets of programs, projects and services within the coordinating role, including staffing and scheduling. · Reporting statistics, conduct outcomes assessments, and critical evaluation of coordinating role programs, projects and services. · Promotion of all services and programs related to the coordinating roll. · Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated competence in the following areas: · Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation and teaching abilities. · Familiarity with relevant library-related technologies and trends. Ability to: · Organize and prioritize complex tasks · Work well with others in a culturally diverse environment · Work equally well independently and on teams · Ability to identify knowledge gaps for training purposes · Ability to work with staff to identify needs for process improvement · Ability to assess and measure improved outcomes · Strong medical information retrieval skills Physical Demands There are physical demands associated with this position including occasionally lifting heavy books or pushing book carts. Work Conditions The work is performed in a modern office environment. At least 70% of the work is performed sitting at a computer terminal. Evening and weekend work required.
