The Florida International University Libraries are looking for a Continuing Resources Librarian to help lead the way as our Serials Unit continues to evolve in the area of serials and other continuing resources management. This supervisory position will provide direction and coordination in the acquisition, access, tracking, assessment, and de-selection of both traditional and emerging continuing resources collected by the FIU Libraries. Reporting to the Head of the Resource Development Department, this position will ensure timely and quality service to patrons by participating in regular evaluation of current and future resource procedures; setting timely goals and objectives; and overseeing collaborative projects related to continuing resources.
Position Description:
As an agent for transformative change, while at the same time ensuring traditional quality control, the Continuing Resources Librarian will: monitor and engage with national and international trends in serials discovery and access; work closely with the department head developing projects reflecting library and academic trends; work collaboratively across library departments supporting library initiatives and streamlining serials workflows accordingly; supervise serials staff and ensure staff are kept current in the skills required to do their job; foster patron-centered practices; serve the library, staff, and profession through active participation in associations, meetings, and committee work.
Required Qualifications:
ALA-accredited Master's degree or equivalent.
Experience working with serials in a library environment.
Experience working with integrated library systems.
Strong organizational skills, including problem solving and project management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory experience.
Past collaborative and independent work as a professional librarian or paraprofessional.
Work experience in a culturally diverse environment.
Rank/Salary:
Minimum $44,000 Commensurate with Education/Experience.
