Position Title	Reference Librarian - Evenings and Weekends
Position Summary	The MCCC Library is seeking a part-time evening/weekend reference librarian. Duties include: demonstrating and teaching the use of appropriate electronic equipment and resources to students and faculty seeking answers to questions, locating information both in print and electronic format; describing or demonstrating the use of the public access catalog and electronic resources; searching reference shelves and computerized information systems to locate requested information; answering inquiries on complicated reference subjects, and formulating and processing online search requests. The evening reference librarian also assists in other departments such as circulation and in identifying new reference acquisition needs. There may also be general administrative tasks such as tallying statistics and participating in assessment activities, and assisting patrons with the use of copiers, general word processing questions and special projects the library must undertake. On occasion, the evening reference librarian may be called upon to teach an information literacy class. Only applicants with an earned master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program will be considered. Those with a record of demonstrated exceptional prior reference service will be given preference. Additionally, only persons with a strong record demonstrating a commitment to high quality and consummate customer service should apply. The hours of the position are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm – 9 pm and every other Saturday from 12 pm – 4 pm. From June 1 – August 15, the hours for this position are 4PM – 7PM, and there are NO Saturday hours. Please consider this one-hour change in the start time when applying for this position. Failure to comply with this residency requirement shall render the person unqualified to continue employment in their position.
Required Qualifications	Only applicants with an earned master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program will be considered.
