Metadata and Resource Management Coordinator, Library and Learning Commons

Responsibilities:
· This position serves as the expert/lead on cataloguing practices and policies within the Cataloguing and Metadata subsection of the Library and Learning Commons of Monash University Malaysia. The Metadata and Resource Management Coordinator oversees all aspects of cataloguing, bibliographic and authority control including cataloguing in all formats using the Alma system and related external resources; developing and implementing cataloguing policies and procedures, supervising cataloguing staff, and coordinating catalog maintenance and leading metadata projects.
Requirements:
· Completion of a degree in library science, professional library qualifications or any related discipline, or combination of relevant knowledge, training and/ or experience.
· Three or more years' experience supervising staff in a cataloguing department, preferably in an academic library.
· Experience working with ILS systems particularly those used at Monash University Malaysia Libraries, such as Voyager, Alma, and Primo.
· Sound knowledge of international metadata, cataloguing and classification standards and metadata schema and emerging standards (eg . AACR2, LCC,RDA, MARC, Dublin Core, FRBR and FRAD).
· Demonstrated ability to work accurately and pay attention to details with good problem solving skills.
· Demonstrated commitment in providing quality customer services for example, sense of urgency in fulfilling requests for library materials.
· Good communication skills including oral, written and interpersonal particularly to effectively liaise, report and negotiate with a range of clients including staff and students.
· Sound organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise work effectively to achieve team goals, both independently and under direction.
· High level of proficiency in relevant technology, for example library systems and bibliographic utilities, Microsoft Office Applications.
