POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Virtual International Research Project Intern

REPORTS TO: Assistant Program Director for Human Resources
POSITION LOCATION: Virtual
PAY: $600 stipend
PERIOD: Part-time (estimated 80-90 hours) - March through June 2014
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Library Management, Human Resources, and Staff Development Study of International Collaboration includes a survey of library associations to create a baseline of information regarding past efforts and interest in future international collaborative initiatives among academic and research library associations in the areas of human resources, management, and staff development. The intern will assist the Principal Investigator in all phases of the project but will be primarily responsible for creating a comprehensive list of international contacts and conducting an in-depth literature review. The position is part-time, flexible, and expected to take place virtually.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Gather contact information for academic and research library committees, round tables, discussion groups and other units, within library associations (globally) working in the specific research areas of human resources, management, and staff development
· Conduct an in-depth literature review on past collaborative efforts
· Keep detailed records of contacts and conversations with international representatives
· Assist in designing survey tool and administering the survey
· Prepare data for analysis
· Assist with data analysis and preparation of findings
QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications:
· Experience working in an academic library
· LIS degree or current LIS student
· Interest in library management, human resources, and/or staff development
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Reliable
· Detail oriented
· English fluency
· Ability to work virtually
· Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred qualifications:
· Experience collaborating or working internationally
· Experience in library management, human resources, and/or staff development
· Experience with writing survey questions and analyzing data
· Familiarity with non-US library associations
· Spanish or French language skills
HOURS:
Flexible work hours but must be able to overlap with supervisor’s work hours for meetings (8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time).
