Are you excited by the future of public libraries?  As Director of Public Library Planning you will have a unique opportunity to link government and public library system objectives through the development and implementation of the Saskatchewan provincial public library system strategic plan.  You will provide recommendations to the Ministry of Education and stakeholders regarding library legislation, public library policy and program development within the context of the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth and public library priorities.  Your experience with strategic planning and facilitation, coupled with your excellent communication skills, will position you to assume a leadership role within the Ministry and the province.  Working closely with the Provincial Librarian, senior Ministry employees, public library directors and library staff you will oversee the development of policy directions for existing and emerging province-wide services and programs.  You will have the ability to lead and inspire a team of employees to successfully implement policy and programs.

 

Typically, an ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and knowledge of public library issues and strategies would be required for this position.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
